Welcome to Vani Madhav.

Vani Madhav is a distinguished Senior Odissi dance exponent of the illustrious Guru Debaprad Das Parampara. With over four decades of dedicated practice, performance, and scholarship, and more than twenty-five years of teaching and research, she has made an enduring contribution to the preservation, promotion, and dissemination of India’s rich classical dance heritage.

Born in Odisha, the cradle of Odissi, Vani Madhav began her dance training at the age of six under the guidance of Guru Gajendra Panda. She later underwent advanced training under the eminent Guru Sudhakar Sahu, recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, refining her artistry in the distinctive aesthetics and philosophy of the Guru Debaprasad Das style.

An accomplished performer known for her expressive abhinaya, commanding stage presence, and refined technique, Vani Madhav has presented acclaimed performances at prestigious festivals and cultural platforms across India. Her performances have consistently earned appreciation from critics, scholars, and the media for their artistic depth and authenticity.

As an inspiring teacher, she has trained numerous students through her institution Nritya Dhara in Gurugram, nurturing the next generation of Odissi dancers with a strong emphasis on tradition, discipline, and artistic excellence. Her teaching combines rigorous classical training with a deep understanding of Indian aesthetics and cultural values.

Vani Madhav is also an accomplished researcher and choreographer. As a Senior Fellow of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, she has undertaken significant research that contributes to the documentation and enrichment of Indian classical dance traditions. Her choreographic works seamlessly blend classical grammar with meaningful contemporary themes rooted in Indian philosophy and cultural heritage.

Her professional accomplishments have earned her recognition as an empanelled artist of the Festival of India (Ministry of Culture, Government of India), the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), and Doordarshan, reflecting her standing as a respected ambassador of Indian classical dance.
Beyond performance and pedagogy, Vani Madhav has rendered distinguished service to the cultural administration of the nation through her membership in several prestigious committees. She has served on the Scholarship Award Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Sanskar Bharati, the Central Board of Film Certification (Ministry of Information & Broadcasting), and the Tableaux Selection Committee of the Ministry of Defence for the Republic Day Parade (2022–23), contributing her expertise to important national cultural initiatives.

A performer of exceptional merit, a dedicated guru, an innovative choreographer, and a committed researcher, Vani Madhav continues to enrich the cultural landscape of India through her unwavering devotion to Odissi dance. Her lifelong commitment to artistic excellence, cultural preservation, and education has established her as a respected custodian of India’s intangible cultural heritage and a worthy recipient of national and international honours.
